Suicidal behavior of adolescents and young adults is one of the forms of deviant behavior and a serious public health problem. In medical practice young people that have attempted suicide are prevalent in the departments of toxicology and resuscitation units. In a current review modern models of suicidal behavior of young people are discussed with the emphasis on neurobiological mechanisms. Knowledge regarding these models by general practitioners, reanimatologists, toxicologists and other medical specialties may help better understanding of psychology and behavior of young suicide attempters and will promote better communication between psychiatrists and clinical psychologists in the medical hospitals.
