This study attempts to consider the main stages of formation and modern evolution of Russian foreign cultural policy (FCP). Based on a variety of documentary material the article assesses the current state of foreign cultural policy, identifies problems and current trends in the development of FCP. The study offers recommendations for optimization and efficiency of the foreign cultural policy of the Russian Federation, which are based, among other things, on the study of foreign experience.
