The review is devoted to the analysis of modern Russian and international publications on the methodological aspects of the quality of life (QoL) research, as well as approaches to the screening of cognitive impairment in
elderly. The review presents a brief description of tools for assessing the QoL and cognitive impairment in older
adults. The importance of QoL assessment and screening of cognitive impairment in geriatric patients to provide
them with patient-oriented health care and socio-psychological support is justified.
