The article analyzes the correlation between the Russian criminal procedure legislation concerning the status of the victim and the relevant international standards. The main international legal acts relating to the protection
of the rights of victims, in particular in the case of compensation for harm caused
by a crime, are considered. Some tendencies of the Russian legislation concerning the legal guarantees in the sphere of criminal t proceedings ensuring the
rights of victim are discussed and the comparative legal characteristics of the
corresponding tendencies in some CIS States are given. It raises the questions
about necessity of creation of system of guaranteed measures of protection of victims in criminal cases. Statistics data are given.
