We investigated the relationship between the experience of regulatory crisis middle adulthood and protective coping wom- en. We examined 60 women between the ages of 29 and 45. We measured the performance of regulatory experiences of the crisis (VR questionnaire Manoukian), life satisfaction (Life Satisfaction Scale E. Diner, R. Emmons, etc.), indicators of subjective pic- ture of lifeʼs journey (procedure «Schedule of life»), coping mechanisms (coping Lazarus-test), the level of the ratio «values» and«accessibility» in various spheres of life (developed by E. B. Fantalovoy), psychological defense (Questionnaire «Index lifestyle» Kellerman - Plutchika - Comté). Data: The calculation of the mean and standard deviation, Studentʼs t-test for independent sam- ples, ANOVA, cluster analysis, correlation analysis, factor analysis.Results. The basic hypothesis was confirmed by the study of the relationship experiences of regulatory crisis and protective coping behavior. In the group of women with varying severity of regulatory crisis differ significantly preferred coping and defense. In the group of women with severe crisis significantly more activated «overcompensation», «escape-avoidance» and «acceptance of re- sponsibility», while in the group with the lack of expression of the crisis is the preferred adaptive coping «planning solution». Linkbetween the defense and coping numerous that suggests the existence of a «protective and controlling behavior». Factor analysis al- lowed to identify six types of protective coping Women: replacement activity, ignoring problems of structural transformation, self- blame, the illusion of control, compensatory communication. Out of all types of protective and controlling behavior «self-blame» is specific to the period in women.
