The article examines the genesis and evolution of the concept of natural law, as well as its place in Russian philosophical thought in the first half of the 19th century. The main attention is paid to how the ideas of natural rights and natural law are interpreted in the context of the specific state and social reality of Russia. Particular attention is paid to the legacy of P. Kunitsyn, who created one of the first liberal versions of these concepts.
