In this article, the author analyzes the regulatory legal acts of China that enshrine the rights of citizens in the field of environmental protection (in the article they are also referred to as environmental rights), and the procedure of their protection. These rights include the right to access information about environmental protection, the right to participate in environmental protection, and the right to control environmental protection. The paper notes that in recent years, China’s environmental legislation has undergone major changes, which have affected, among other things, the legal regulation of the protection of citizens’ rights in the field of environmental protection. In particular, the People’s Republic of China Law «On environmental protection» is defined in environmental law and the code of Civil procedure of the People’s Republic of China provides for procedure of protection of public interests in the sphere of environmental protection. In the context of the study, the author analyzes the measures of administrative and criminal liability for environmental offenses, in which the environmental rights of Chinese citizens are also protected. The author explores ways to protect the rights of Chinese citizens in the field of environmental protection, including civil law, enshrined in the basic provisions of civil law of the PRC.
