The article describes the stock of idioms of everyday Russian oral speech, studying their gender and age aspects. The analysis is based on the material of the sample from the Sound Corpus of the Russian everyday speech “One Speaker’s Day”, balanced by gender (women and men) and age (native speakers under and over 40 years). Using data comparison of 16 informants “speaker’s days”, we can give a quantitative characteristic of the speech of each sociolect. As a result it turned out that, generally speaking, women and men are using the same number of idioms; however, a group of younger women and a group of older men are more idiom-oriented as compared with elder women and younger men groups. Comparison of different types of stable expressions (“dictionary-fixed”, modified and occasional, i.e. potential) allows to see the overall picture of modern Russian speech stock of idioms, and also shows its qualitative similarities and differences for different speakers’ groups.
