The article considers the problem of communication of emotions in the process of perception and evaluation of a painting dependent on the functioning of
the emotive cognitive mechanism of aesthetic empathy. The author focuses on the language representation of colour characteristics as a means of explication
of emotive sense of a picture and its transmitting to the reader of the text.
