The review considers the monography of Sergey Avanesov, Dr. Sc., “Chelovek v Norme” (Rus.: The Man In the Norm ). The paper scrutinizes the topicality of the author's conception, his development of the unified interpretation of the human being as not only anthropological, but also ontological problem. It also discusses the argument that the man cannot be realized only by the means of positive science. Finally, it clarifies the thesis that the human beings represent a sense-forming goal of philosophical anthropology within a genuine philosophical investigation, as they make actual their implicit communicative nature.
