The article is devoted to history of creation and composition of the collection of the Schwerin Münzkabinet (Mecklenburg - Western Pomerania, Germany). The Mecklenburg lands were participants in many historical events of the Baltic region. This fact is reected in the collection of coins and memorable medals of the Schwerin Münzcabinet. The author proposes to consider these artefacts as historical sources on the history of the Baltic region.
