The article deals with a critical discourse analysis of publications in Mexican media dedicated to the Russia's presidential election of 2018. The language tools of the manipulative impact on the wide readership used by Mexican journalists with the intention of creating a positive or negative image of Russia and its President are explored. Special attention is paid to such frequent phenomena as stereotypification, labeling and name calling, language game, the use of precedent texts, creation of new ideologemes and hybrid entities, as well as the extensive use of expressive metaphors.
