The article deals with one of the contentious issues in the historiography of the Soviet-Polish relations: the outbreak of war between the two new states in Europe, which had its own geopolitical interests in the Baltic States and Eastern Europe, based on uncompromising ideological paradigms. The author examines and shows the main trends in the Russian (Soviet) and Polish historical literature explaining their origin.
