This article focuses on real and fictional characters of Alexandre Dumas. Considering that the main objective of the historical novel is to reflect the spirit of the age, the heroes of the work take the paramount place in the narration, because it is through their characters, way of thinking, actions and manners that the writer solves this problem. It is interesting to figure out what means the author uses in creating the characters and how they help him achieve his goal.
