The paper considers the influence of institutional conditions on the development and territorial organization of agriculture and food production in the Russian-Belarusian borderland. The differences in the role of holdings, the choice of objects for state support, the organization of sales and the relationship of manufacturers and processors are estimated. It has been established that institutional gradients lead to divergence of agricultural potential and practically have no positive effects for the coordinated development of the industry on both sides of the border.
