The article assesses the stability and analyzes the main trends in the development of depression, reflecting the current and future situation of the regions of the North-Western Federal district. On the basis of the integral indicator, destructive, unstable, dynamic and stable territories are identified, proposals for adjusting their development strategies for a number of indicators are constructed.
