abstract = "At the beginning of WWI, several works dedicated to Galician Rus appeared in Russia. Most of them were of a propaganda-informative style aimed at providing the society and military circles with the information about the position of Enslaved Rus - the historical Russian lands under the Austro-Hungarian rule: Eastern Galicia, Bukovina and Hungarian (Subcarpathian) Rus. This article analyses nine of these works. Two works were published in 1914, the others in 1915. Seven of them were based on the common Russian position. The local Rusin population was called Russian or Little Russian. Two of the articles were written by Ukrainophiles. The books and brochures contained several useful accounts on history, culture, economics, demography and national status of Eastern Galicia as well as on the Russian and Ukrainophile (Mazepite) movements. They also gave several interesting analytical presentations.",
