The article draws the reader’s attention to the turning point in the history of Russian sociology - the period after the Russian revolution of 1917. Pitirim Sorokin in his youth was a revolutionary, politician, and publicist. He watched the revolution from the inside, but only years later he tried to find the answer to the question: «What causes and conditions lead society to revolution?». And in 1917-1918 he wrote many publicistic articles on the topic of the day both under his own name and under various pseudonyms. Until recently pseudonym of Pitirim Sorokin «Komi-mort» was unknown for researchers. Sorokin’s articles published under this pseudonym on the pages of the newspaper «Will of the country» are a unique historical document and reflect previously unknown aspects of his activities as a political publicist
