This article aims at identifying the most influential domestic
institutions regarding German policy towards Russia and defining
their relative role in its shaping. To achieve that, the author has
examined the key characteristics of bilateral relations at the present stage, educing the main German interests. Then, paralleling the normative “basis” of the German foreign policy mechanism with how it operates specifically in the Russian direction, the author has highlighted the most prepotent institutions and has designated their specific roles.
