The article is devoted to the relationship between modal and value meanings of the adjectives, preceding the infinitive. The infinitive may denote both real and hypothetical action It is proven that qualitative adjectives acquire modal meaning when the action expressed by the infinitive is presented as unreal. Adjectives with “good” value meaning present the action as necessary, possible or desirable, whereas an adjective with “bad” meaning is an obstacle to the implementation of the action.
