Introduction . The relevance of the study is due to the need for a comprehensive analysis of the problem of personal-environmental interaction at the present stage. The purpose of this study is a comparative analysis of value orientations (cultural dimensions and basic values) and parameters of the psychological system of activity of university youth in four Russian cities. Methods. The study involved 735 university students studying in St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Tomsk and Irkutsk. A battery of questionnaire methods was used, grouped according to three research vectors: 1) value orientations at the cultural level (methods of G. Hofstede and R. Inglehart); 2) value orientations at the individual level (SORB method); 3) parameters of the psychological system of activity: self-determination, the need for achievement and affiliation, personal readiness for activity (goal-setting, planning, reflection and life satisfaction), innovative personality traits. Statistical analysis included descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and ANOVA analysis of variance. results. Factor analysis revealed the leading indicators characterizing the specifics of personal-environmental interaction on the example of university youth. These include the potential of the urban environment, personal readiness for action and traditional values. Value orientations in the studied samples differed both at the cultural level (long-term orientation, traditional values) and at the individual level (a subjective assessment of the feasibility of basic metavalues, which serves as a measure of the potential of the urban environment). The features of the parameters of the psychological system of activity (planning, the need for connection with other people, the index of self-determination and the need for achievement) are also revealed. The discussion of the results. The scientific novelty of the research is determined by a comprehensive approach to the analysis of the specifics of personal-environmental interaction in the context of the personal-professional development of university youth. The analysis made it possible to identify the leading indicators that characterize the value orientations and parameters of the psychological system of the activity of Russian university youth, and the environmental specifics of the studied indicators, which must be taken into account when organizing psychological and pedagogical support for the process of personal and professional development of university youth.
