The article investigates the problem of patriotism in the journal Russian thought in the era of the 1917 Russian Revolution. The article analyzes the ideas E.N.Trubetskoi and P.B.Struve on this issue. In particular, we investigate the features of the religious concept of the state and authority E.N.Trubetskoi and the concept of ‘Great Russia’ P.B.Struve. It is shown that, in many ways, this controversy affected the revolutionary situation in Russia leading to a discussion of the theme of patriotism. The article also highlights some of the historical and philosophical background of the resolution of issues of patriotism as presented by the works of Slavophiles, Westerners, and V.S.Solovev.
