The article discusses and analyzes the problem of existential self-identity of the personality in the era of globalization and technological progress. As a hypothesis of the research the authors proposed to consider nationalism and fundamentalism as a consequence or result of the existential choice of the personality, due to the complex global integration processes. Adherence to nationalism and its extreme forms are due to internal predisposition personality manifested in conditions conducive to this process. As an example of existential self-identity in the form of nationalism, the authors discuss the political crisis in Ukraine 2013-2014. The article postulates that now experienced by an identity crisis is global. Crisis develops and runs in all spheres of life, as well as interregional level, but its development would not be possible without the development of environment technologies, primarily the Internet and global communication through social networks. This, in turn, leads to the same global vulnerability to national security that brings issues of identity and nationalism in the new existential level. The authors propose and justify the formula N = (Vs → St) & (Vn → dSt). And, according to the formula, we acknowledge the replacement of St - stable condition at dSt - unstable in an uncertain temporal perspective.
