Bottom sediments of Ekaterinofka, Chernaya Rechka, Karpovka, Moika, Smolenka, Okhta and Krasnenkaya Rivers in St. Petersburg have been studied. The content of heavy metals and metalloids in the sediments was determined (HMM - Fe, Pb, Zn, Mn, Ni, Cr, Cu, Cd, Co, Ba, Sc, V, Sb, As, Hg). According to the values of the coefficients of anomality, a high level of pollution of river sediments, especially chalcophilic elements, was shown. The geochemical structure of precipitation was studied using the method of principal components of factor analysis. Six paragenetic associations of HMM were identified, reflecting the industrial specifics of pollution sources. It is shown that the main sources of rivers pollution are enterprises for the paint and varnish products, batteries, as well as metal industries. Peak pollution occurs in the 50-70s of the last century. Currently, the level of HMM pollution of bottom sediments has decreased due to the decline in industrial production and the implementation of water protection measures.
