The article answers the research questions: what is the specificity of the movie as a “mnemonic actor”, how does the movie accumulate and reconfigure knowledge of the past, what problems of constructing historical memory are solved by American films about the Vietnam War, by what means do they do it.The base of the research is the films 1976-2017 about the Vietnam War, reviews and film festival materials.
