I consider the metaphysical concept of the block universe. The block universe is based on the formalism of the special theory of relativity. The block universe denies the fundamental role of time and assumes that objects do not exist at separate instants of time, but on the world lines in 4-dimensional space-time. Events in the past, present and future are regarded as having an equal degree of reality. There are ten arguments in favor of the block universe. I will show that all these arguments are either untenable or allow explanations that are not consistent with the block universe.
