This article presents the findings of the preliminary (pilot) stage of an interdisciplinary research project aimed at investigation of individual psychological characteristics associated with risk of Internet addiction in a sample of young healthy adults. For detection of markers of high risk for Internet addiction, the researchers used the Mini-Mental Health Examination. Manifestations of Internet addiction were measured with the Chen Internet Addiction Scale (CIAS). Besides, the researchers evaluated emotional and personality characteristics of participants, their impulsivity and the effect of child trauma exposure. The final risk model for Internet addiction includes the parameters of high anxiety score (HADS), high planning impulsiveness (BIS), prominent disorganized / careless measure (TIPI) and avoidance of social interaction (LSAS). Further research is planned in the direction of differentiation and specification of psychological risk markers for Internet addiction for the purposes of prevention and early detection of this disorder.
