The article discusses the results of socio-political analysis of international and Russian legal acts regarding prohibition of propa­ganda for war and
genocide in the media, and gives examples of their application. The author concludes that the regulatory legal acts avai­lable in the national legislation
are insufficient and that a federal law banning propaganda for war is required.
