The article describes the phenomenon of manipulation, in particular verbal manipulation. The purpose of the study is to identify the most popular tools and technologies of influence on a reader’s consciousness and the peculiarities of their functioning in the British political discourse. In this regard, the authors describe some tools and technologies of verbal manipulation; analyse verbal means of manipulative influence implementation in the texts of the modern British periodicals and features of their functioning. The novelty of the work is in expanding and specifying the classification of verbal manipulation technologies.
