The article examines cooperation between Russia and the ASEAN countries in the field of defense. An attempt is made to determine how broad the military-technical cooperation between Russia and the ASEAN countries is, what impact it has on the security situation in the region. First of all, the author paid attention to those countries with which Russia has established cooperation in the military sphere, and such countries are the majority among ASEAN members. The opinion is expressed that the ASEAN countries are a promising direction for Russian military exports, and for Russia the preservation of military cooperation is especially important, since it is the main and sometimes the only link in Russia's interaction with this international organization.
