Digital technologies in economics and public governance have developed
immensely in the recent decades. Their application in the area of crime control has remained
fairly limited despite their potential for increasing the effectiveness of reaction to crime and
preventing new incidents or recidivism. Exploring the system of domestic violence control in
the US we discuss the role of technologies (internet and mobile applications, computer algorythms, and global positioning system) in improving the system of crime reporting, providing
victims access to justice, and reducing repeat crime. It is suggested that further research should
address how digitalization affects the perspectives of security coproduction and civic participation in governance of crime.
