The article draws attention to the fact that the Second World War differed from previous armed conflicts by the significant role of the ideological factor that influenced the military-political and geopolitical processes of that period. It is noted that ideology was the basis of the confrontation between the Anti-Hitler coalition and the bloc, led by Nazi Germany. The change in the ratio of geopolitical and ideological factors at various stages of the Second World War is considered. It is stated that, as victory over a common enemy approaches, ideological and political disagreements became more apparent in relations between the states of the AntiHitler coalition and with in the resistance movement in the occupied countries. The influence of geopolitical and ideological aspects on the post-war development of the countries of Eastern Europe is considered.
