The article touches upon some aspects of the philosophical heritage of the medieval Islam, which was studied by Russian scientists in the second half of the XIX - early XX century. Particular attention is paid to development of tradition of studying of the history of the Medieval Islamic philosophy, the stages of its evolution, its characteristics as well as formation of self-consciousness of historians of Arab-Islamic philosophy in the context of development of humanities. The author emphasizes the role of the most famous specialists whose works left a deep imprint on the formation of this scientific tradition and influenced the further study of the history of Islamic philosophy in Russia.
