The process of formation and development of political economy and statistics in Russia at the beginning of the XIX century is analyzed. On the example of several authors it was shown that at first political economy and statistics were closely intertwined, mutually enriching each other. It is shown that the German government, as well as the works of A. Smith, had a great influence on the development of these directions.
