The purpose of the article is to show on the case of Yakutia the possibility of using different regional atlases in teaching geography at school. Atlas mapping as a tool of modern geographical communication is briefly characterized. An overview of the geographical atlases of Yakutia, among which a special place is occupied by educational publications. There are rare data on atlases of the XIX-early XX centuries also thematic atlases of the XX century and modern reference books, the involvement of which in school education is very useful are given in the article. Highlights the main directions of the use of atlases in the interests of learning of the geography of Yakutia and the dissemination of geographical knowledge about the region. The list of atlases of Yakutia is given.
