Among especially protected natural territories in the North-West of Russia National parks are of particular importance. They are intended to preserve the unique natural complexes, historical and cultural monuments, to carry out recreational and educational functions, to form the basis for tourism development in the region. The natural features of 8 National parks in the North-West of Russia and their role as the centers of recreation and tourism are considered.
