The aim of the study of secondary and returned loans in Chinese is to provide their terminological definition and identify their role in the development of the Chinese language at different stages. The objectives include the analysis of their formation patterns, similarities and differences as well as their specific features and position in the general classification of Chinese language borrowings. The research is relevant as this subject remains little studied and Russian linguistics seems to lack clear terminology in this field.
