In the DPRK, according to official data, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19. Due to the country's information secrecy, the real situation is unknown. Some media reported the penetration of the disease, but this data has not been confirmed in any way. On July 21, 2020, WHO representatives in the DPRK confirmed the facts of negative results in more than 1000 people tested. It is possible that the infection entered the country and there were local outbreaks, but the authorities quickly took them under control and, due to the severity of the measures, did not allow the spread of the infection. The paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the DPRK's political system in the face of a pandemic, using the example of the fight against COVID-19. The main measures that were taken by the country's leadership are outlined, national characteristics and their relationship with the attitude to the actions taken by the authorities, as well as their impact on the outcome of the fight against the pandemic, are examined. Interim results are summed up, indicating the productivity of countering the coronavirus in the country and the effectiveness of the DPRK political system in countering the pandemic.
