According to the statistics of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, approximately from 40 % to 80 % of the population of Russia have certain bite anomalies (depending on the region and development of the primary and subsequent links of dental care at the local level). In other regions of the world this number is also high - in Saudi Arabia only 9 % of children do not have any bite anomalies, Sweden - 65 % of children and adults have bite abnormalities. With age, not only does the prevalence of DA (dentoalveolar anomalies) change, but also their structure and clinical characteristics. So, at the age of 3 years the frequency of anomalies is about 41.0 %, with bite anomalies predominating (90.6 %), and 40 % being combined with various functional disorders - speech, swallowing, breathing, chewing. By 6-7 years, not only the frequency of anomalies is increasing (up to 47.1-47.7 %), but also the frequency of functional disorders (up to 44.6 %). An increase in the frequency of DA is accompanied by a decrease in the specific gravity of bite anomalies and an increase in the proportion of dentition anomalies.
