In the article researched the problem of the evolution of permanent armed conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, relevant to this country since the 1990s. With the fall of the Mobutu regime, which tried to balance between the West and the USSR in the 1980s, the escalation of the conflict, which continued for several decades, despite significant efforts by the UN, plunged the country into a state of chaos, from which it was just starting to emerge. At the heart of the military-political crisis in the Congo is fierce competition for Congolese minerals, with a total value of about 36 trillion dollars. It is shown that Russia enters the economic arena of the DRC with due caution due to the lack of stability in the country over a long period. It notes the positive changes, indicating that recently the situation in the republic and, accordingly, the prospects for economic cooperation between Russia and the Congo are improving.
