Тhe authors touche upon the influence of the Islamic factor on the development of Russian-Azerbaijani relations since the Azerbai- jani khanate joint the Russian empire and up to the contemporary situation, when Russia and Azerbaijan cooperate intensively not only in economic, political and military spheres but on the international arena. The states often hold the same viewpoint on various issues of the international agenda, including tacling new threats.
