A report presents results of an empirical research devoted to a study of a Russian youth political leadership problems (October 2018). A key issue of the report is a priority channels for obtaining political information by residents of Russian regions aged 14 to 30 years. The influence of priority channels for obtaining political information on a young people political activity and political participation forms is revealed. A hypothesis is tested about a relationship of student interest in politics and the channels for obtaining political information by them. The article also explores a socio-demographic profile of young people who prefer to receive political news from various sources of information.
