The article discusses the issue of postmodern representation of death in the novel
«Nothing to be frightened of» by J. Barnes. Due to the structure and specificity of the novel, one of
the main features of the postmodern representation of death is revealed in it, namely, the presence
of three forms of death: simulative, ontological and metaphorical. This allows J. Barnes not only to
represent death within the novel, but also to elevate it to the category of death representation.
