This article presents a study of the severity of neurotic disorders at the personal and clinical levels. We studied the severity of the neurotic personality traits and the symptoms of neuroses in male and female patients with the clinical neurotic disorders and in healthy controls. The results revealed that there are personality traits and clinical characteristics, anxiety coping mechanisms and intrapersonal conflicts specific to men and women. Gender differences within the whole sample including controls showed that men have higher level of manifestation of symptoms of neuroses, and women have more intense neurotic personality traits manifestation.
