The article devoted to the little-investigated phenomena of modern financial system termed a “sustainable finance” and a “sustainable banking”. Their history and problems of modern development attracted the attention of researchers and policy makers from different countries. For Russia, the experience of introducing of sustainable development ideas into the practice of banks and financial institutions is of particular importance due to the need for the speediest recovery of growth rates and a radical restructuring of the national economy.
