The article discusses the effectiveness of the implementation of the national program “Digital Economy” on the example of the Novgorod region. The evaluation of the effectiveness of this project was carried out on the basis of an analysis of documents including strategic development programs for territories in the Russian Federation, on the one hand, and the planned strategies of the region under consideration that meet the needs of the state, on the other. The article presents data on the results that were achieved in the region by 2018, and on new strategic directions of socio-economic development. For the authors, it seems that the Novgorod region is a typical example of a region that, not having significant resources demanded in the world markets for highly liquid raw materials, can act as an analogue for the implementation of the program in regions with similar problems.
