Due to the digitalization of social space, the use of information injections (fakes) through the Internet sites of the media and social media (social nets) in the information opposition of the parties becomes a generally accepted trend. The anonymity of the source of information, which is ensured by the use of social networks in the information confrontation, allows the dissemination of the necessary news with impunity to discredit the enemy. The conflict that began in 2014 with a coup in Ukraine remains the cornerstone of Russia-West relations, making our country an object of information attacks. Taking into account the fact that the change of power in Ukraine occurred with the participation of Western states in the implementation of the anaconda strategy, the government media of Ukraine and the relevant circles supporting its official course are actively participating in the information war, spreading discrediting information about the Russian Federation through information portals of press and social media. In this article, using content analysis, the specifics of the content of fakes used to escalate tensions in Russia-Ukraine relations, their dynamics and their impact on the course of armed confrontation in the Donbas are examined.
