Critical theory (CT) of international relations and interaction between cultures are rarely considered together systematically. A ‘critical' view is often understood as just embeddedness in a specific historical context and criticism of that which could connect different cultures and historical periods. Yet, Robert Cox's CT is more balanced: it helps us to respect the specificity of various cultures and periods, but also to understand connections and foster constructive relations between them.
