Almaty is the largest city in Kazakhstan. The settlement itself
is the industrial, fi nancial, cultural center of the Republic, and tax
revenues to the state budget from only one metropolis are the largest
in comparison with other regions. Taking into account the fi nancial
development of Almaty, the city receives signifi cant migration fl ows
of the population, who are sent there from villages and small towns
to improve their fi nancial and social situation. In this regard, it seems
relevant to consider the socio-demographic situation in Almaty and
describe the main risks and prospects for the development of the
city.
