The report is of a general theoretical nature and introduces the audience to the main areas of television discourse research. Linguistic and interdisciplinary approaches to studying political talk shows are covered in more detail. The authors focus primarily on the work of national and German re153 searchers in recent decades. The main categorical characteristics of talk shows - dialogue and multimodality, as well as the substantive aspects of TV shows in their dynamics - are examined. It is observed that there is a change of accent from the informative function of a talk show to an entertaining one, while the moderator's multi-vector role is emphasised. In the conclusion, prospects for further research are outlined.
